OpenAI released GPT-5 with expanded reasoning, a longer context window and unified multimodal input. GPT-5 succeeds GPT-4o and is available through the OpenAI API and ChatGPT. According to OpenAI, GPT-5 improves on GPT-4o across reasoning, coding and instruction-following benchmarks.
